DAY #7 – VIENNA, AUSTRIA

Well . . . today is the first day we got to sleep in, most of us have been struggling to adapt to the time change, and have been getting up early . . . but for some reason, maybe it was the cozy bed, or the warm showers, or big hotel room . . . we all slept in today!  We didn’t leave until 10 AM, so we had plenty of time to sleep and eat a delicious breakfast of French toast, eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and my personal favorite chocolate cereal! The great thing over here is that everything that is chocolate tastes good, and it has to be healthy for you because it tastes so so so good!

Today we got dropped off in the “Old Town” of Vienna to go shopping, eat food, or to go sightseeing.  We had a few hours and some of us were able to see St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and St. Peter’s church.  St. Stephen’s Cathedral started construction in 1347.   St. Peter’s church is one of Vienna’s most beautiful and famous churches.  Emperor Leopold’s vow to build this church at the time of the plague of Vienna in 1679 and the church was completed in 1733, and the first structure was built in 1160. It burnt down in 1193 and it was re-build and then burnt down in 1258.

We saw the City Center, Parliament, the oldest building in Vienna, and went to Belvedere.  Belvedere was a summer residence for Prince Eugine of Savoy.

We had dinner . . . not sure what it was, I think it’s called a Weiner Schnitzel, and it is made of turkey breast, fried in eggs and bread crumbs.  It was different . . . and we had some good kraut . . . well that’s debatable if it was good!  Then the girls, their parents and the staff went on the swings at the amusement park . . . it was so high, over 300 feet! It was really neat because you could see the beautiful sunset, and see all of Vienna!

Some of the parents decided to play bumper cars . . . Anne stated she loved it but she wanted to play soccer instead

Some of the parents were in the bumper cars . . . so so so funny! Hope Anne is okay after that exciting couple of minutes!

Then a handful of us stayed out to see the city of Vienna at night . . . it was amazing!  All the cathedrals were lit up, and the lilac bushes have come into bloom, it was awesome!

DAY # 6 – SALZBURG, AUSTRIA

Salzburg, Austria

We were able to spend a few hours in Salzburg this morning and do some shopping or more sight seeing, but let’s be honest, the girls for sure went shopping!  We then stopped for lunch at a little city in Austria and then drove on our trek to Vienna.  We stopped for our second game, where we won 10 – 0! We had so many goals I am not sure if I can even remember them all. We had goals from Carlee Payne, Niki Fernandes, Gel Dickson, Kayla Varner, Jaiden Thornock, and yes believe it . . . McKinzie Olson!!!! She scored a sick goal . . . she is a great keeper as well as a great field player!

Here are some photos of the last couple of days:

DAY #5 - RAMSAU, GERMANY - SALZBURG, AUSTRIA

Here we are . . . in Salzburg, Austria . . . in the McDonalds because the hotel internet is not working so great!  Today was a busy day, just like every other day on our adventures.  We left the hotel early this morning and stopped at some places along the way, one of them being Ramsau, Germany. It was amazing!  So, so, beautiful!  Here is just a glimpse of how amazing it is:

Then we headed into Salzburg and had a tour of the city! There is a lot of good history here!  The Sound of Music was filmed here in Salzburg, so we had the pleasure of listening to the soundtrack on our way into the city and then the girls sung their hearts out on the bus! Check back for some good footage of that!  The girls had their first game where they won 7 - 0!  We had goals from Carlee Payne, Niki Fernandes, Gel Dixon, Chloe Colohan, and Megan Ferreday! It was a great day for the Cougs . . . and so much fun to watch the seniors kick the ball around, they still got it!

DAY #4 - INNSBURK, AUSTRIA

Day #4 has come and gone, and we are spending our last night in Innsburk . . . tomorrow we are headed to Salzburg, Austria.  Today we went to see the world's largest crystal . . . 137 lbs! It was pretty cool, and then went through the crystal museum, I am not sure what to say, good but different :) We all came out feeling a little confused by the art we saw in the museum!  Some of us were able to push each other down a little zip line trying to knock each other off, check back tomorrow for some video!

Right before the train ride

Then we ate some lunch, and took a tour of Innsburk.  We learned all about how it got it's name, that it was destroyed by an earthquake . . . and that's all I know, I was busy filming people's faces during the tour!  The weather was super weird today, it was so so so so cold, and it was raining like crazy, and then it stopped and was nice.  Sort of feels like Utah :) Tomorrow it is supposed to be in the high 60's and then gets warmer everyday, up into the 80's, I am feeling so confused by the weather!  We had an awesome dinner tonight, might have been one of the favorites of the trip, homemade lasagna, soup with pancake strips . . . different but delicious!

This was not the favorite . . . blah

Sort of reminded us of the caves in 007
