The girls recently returned from Irvine, California where they played their first game of the seasons against the UC Irvine Anteaters! The Cougs have been working hard all pre-season . . . and they were so excited to step on the field and play a different opponent. The girls came out strong and Jaiden Thornock passed a ball to Niki Fernandes and she put it away in the 29th minute. Michelle Murphy scored her first goal of her college career in the 53rd minute off an assist from Dana Cusick. The Anteaters started to make a come back in the second half and they scored in the 72nd minute of a PK from a handball in the box. The Anteaters tying goal came with 45 seconds left in the game.
The Cougs headed into overtime, and Jaiden Thornock put away a golden goal in the 98th minute to win the game. The Cougs are headed to Arizona where they will play the Wildcats and then home to Salt Lake City where they will play their rival the Utes!
Remember the first home game is August 30th at 6 PM!!! Come watch the girls kick off their 2012 Season!!!
