The Spring Comes To An End

The Cougs just finished up their spring season yesterday with a win over ISU and Utah.  The weather was perfect for the first game, and the girls battled hard.  BYU was able to pull off the win with a goal from Rachel Manning with about 2 minutes left in the game.  The last time BYU met Utah, they walked away with a 1-0 loss, and it would be the only loss of the season.  The girls were anxious and excited to match up against Utah. BYU scored first with a goal from Colette Jepson-Smith. Utah answered back shortly after to tie up the game.  Sarah Chambers had the game winning goal at the end of the game off a steal.

A special thanks to the Celtic Storm soccer team for volunteering to be our ball kids. It was so cold, the wind was blowing like crazy and it was raining.  Thank you for being so awesome!

The girls will continue to train throughout the summer, they will run, play lots of soccer, and lift to get read for the 2013 season! Make sure you have your season passes, and reserved seats! Check back to see what the girls are up to during the summer!

Spring Continues In Vegas

The Cougs just got back from their outdoor tournament down in Las Vegas, where they played two games against Dixie and UNLV. The Cougs left on Friday afternoon, got in Friday night, played two games, and got back on the bus home.  The weather was perfect, 75 degrees, green grass, 2 things we haven't seen for a while.  The girls did great, and ended up winning both games 3-1.  There were goals from Jaiden Thornock, Rachel Manning, Paige Hunt, Michelle Murphy, and 2 goals from Sarah Chambers.

IT'S SPRING TIME

The BYU Soccer Team has been busy this Spring. Last weekend they had two games in the not so spring weather in Ogden.  They played Utah State and Weber, and both ended in a 0-0 tie.

The Cougs had the chance to go to Windsor Elementary and be a part of their Red Ribbon Week. They ate lunch with the kids, signed posters, and played games with the kids.  The Women's and Men's team have been going to this elementary school for over 10 years.

And finally, the Cougs had their annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Coaches hide all sorts of treats behind the Fieldhouse, in the bushes, in the trees, on the rooftops. The girls go crazy, and look forward to this event every year.  This year, after they had their very own Easter Egg Hunt, they set up an Easter Egg Hunt for the BYU Preschool kids. The girls are always so excited to serve and are such awesome role models.

The Cougs will head to Las Vegas on April 6th to play UNLV, and then will be home on April 13th for their annual outdoor tournament.

FAN FEST 2013

Erica with her crowd of fans

The BYU Women's Soccer Team held their first Fan Fest last night in the indoor practice facility.  The players put on a free clinic from 6:30PM-7:30PM for kids, and then it was a fun-filled night for any BYU Soccer fans that wanted to come.  The IPF was buzzing with kids to faithful BYU Soccer fans. There was music, popsicles, popcorn and lots of free stuff. There were hundreds of kids that participated in the clinic and the players taught them dribbling skills, moves and possession.

Thanks for everyone that came out and participated in the clinic and joined in the Fan Fest. A special thanks to everyone who helped us pick up all the popcorn :) We love our fans!!!

Cougs Play First Spring Games

The Cougs had a busy busy day yesterday! They started the morning off at BYU's National Girls' and Women's In Sports Day! All the female sports gathered in the Smith Fieldhouse and celebrated the opportunity for females to play sports and the positive effects it has had on their lives.  The soccer girls had a chance to sign posters and even challenged the BYU Women's Volleyball Team to a game of volleyball. The girls did a pretty good job, and they gave it their best, but the Volleyball girls hit way harder then our Soccer girls.

Then the Cougs kicked off their Spring Season with their annual indoor tournament in the IPF.  Their first game was against Weber, and the game ended in a tie, 1-1.  Weber scored first on a PK, and the Cougs answered back with a goal from Rachel Manning.  The Cougs then took on UVU in the last game of the tournament and won 2-0, with goals from Rachel Manning and Kyleigh Royall.

The Cougs will now head to Arizona this weekend, where they will be play Arizona and Northern Arizona University.
